Records Search Requests
Criminal Records Search Requests may be made in-person or by mail only. We are unable to conduct records requests by phone.
In-person records requests can be made at either the Independence Courthouse or the Bishop Courthouse during normal hours of operation
Criminal Records Name Search Request
Name Search Requests can be done by emailing the Name Search Request Form to searches@inyocourt.ca.gov. This process will minimize the written requests for searches and related expenses due to faxing and mailing back no-hit searches.
The results will be emailed back to you and will include hit or no-hit results only. If you need any case information or copies please submit the Records Search Request Form by mail.
Criminal Records Search Request
The fee for searching the record is $15.00 per name for the last ten (10) years. Copies of actual documents or a docket cost $.50 per page. Certification is an additional $40.00 per document. (GC § 70627, 70626).
To request a Records Search, complete the Records Search Request Form and mail it to the court at the address below along with a check for $15.00 and provide a self-addressed stamped envelope for return.
To receive copies of documents or a case summary by mail or fax, complete the form and mail it to the court with a check “not to exceed” an amount that will cover the $15.00 search fee, copy fees, and certification fee (if requesting certified copies), and provide a self-addressed stamped envelope for return.
Per this court’s policy, your check will be returned if no record is found, therefore please provide one check per name. If you provide one check for multiple names, the entire amount may be processed by the court. No amount will be refunded and the clerk cannot reduce the amount of your check.

Probate Estate Records Search Request
The fee to inquire if a Probate Estate case has been filed is $15.00 per name for the last ten (10) years. (GC 70661). Probate Estate searches will not be conducted by phone or email. Mail your written request along with the $15.00 fee and a self-addressed stamped envelope for return, to the address below. The request should include the name and date of birth of the decedent.
